1April 28th, 2013 - A damp weekend found Justin taking his #77A Asplin Motorsports Rocket Super Late Model into battle in a pair of Lucas Oil MLRA and MARS Super Late Model events. With Friday night's scheduled program at Thunderbird Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) delayed until Sunday afternoon due to rain the festivities officially opened on Saturday night at Tri State Speedway (Pocola, Oklahoma) with a $3,000-to-win race. Thirty Super Late Models filled the pits at the 1/2 mile oval, and while he fell just short of locking into the feature via heat race action Asplin won the b-main to earn the seventeenth starting spot for feature. In the main event he advanced five spots on his way to a twelfth place finish.

Sunday evening found the team returning to Thunderbird Speedway for a $3,000-to-win race at the 1/2 mile oval. Twenty-four entries registered for action, and a second place finish in his heat race resulted in Justin starting sixth in the finale. He raced in the top ten throughout the course of the feature before crossing the finish line in the tenth position, which marked his best finish thus far into the early 2013 campaign.

1April 21st, 2013 - Justin set out to enter a tripleheader over the weekend, which was sanctioned by the MARS, ALMS, and Corn Belt Clash Super Late Model tours. The opening round at Tri City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Illinois) fell victim to Mother Nature on Friday night.

As a result the action officially opened on Saturday night with a $4,000-to-win race at 34 Raceway (Burlington, Iowa). A stout field of forty-four competitors entered the event, and heat race and b-main action found Asplin falling just short of transferring to the feature event. As a result he utilized a MARS provisional to start the main event in the 25th position. He would go on to record a 24th place finish in the final rundown.

The weekend concluded on Sunday evening at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) as thirty-two entries entered the $3,000-to-win event. The event marked Asplin's first ever time to compete at the 1/4 mile oval, and he spent much of the night trying to find the setup for the track. A sixth place finish in his consolation event forced him to again use a MARS provisional to start the main event. He went on finish twentieth in the main event.

1April 13th, 2013 - Saturday night found Justin traveling to Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) for a Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) event at the 3/8 mile oval. Thirty-three entries filled the pit area for the $3,000-to-win event, and Asplin advanced from the eighth starting spot in his heat to a sixth place finish, which sent him to a b-main, where he started in the fifth position. Unfortunately he would slip backwards to a tenth place finish in the consolation event, so he had to utilize a provisional to start the main event in the twenty-fourth position. Asplin went on to advance seven spots in the feature to record a seventeenth place finish in the 40 lapper. Full results from the event are available at www.MLRARacing.com.

1April 6th, 2013 - Justin opened the 2013 Lucas Oil MLRA season over the weekend with a double shot of events at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska). A stout field of 47 Super Late Models converged on the 4/10 mile oval on Friday night for the $2,000-to-win, lid lifter, and after winning first heat race from the second starting spot Justin locked into the sixth starting spot for the main event. For the first half of the feature he raced in the top ten before the handle began to go away on his entry, and he slipped back to a fourteenth place finish.

A fresh $3,000-to-win event was scheduled for Saturday night, and with thirty-nine entries on hand a sixth to third charge in his heat race was enough to lock Asplin into the seventh starting spot for the finale. During the first half of the feature he again found himself in the mix in the top ten before finishing just outside the front ten competitors with a twelfth place finish.
